FoodFeast to new heights

As you may know, Oslo Congress Centre has appointed a master chef on a full time basis. Last year we launched the FoodFeast concept. Now we're lifting the concept another 1000 metres!

Local

Bengt Sjöström is the chef at Oslo Congress Centre. He is one of Sweden's most popular and respected cooks, known for his work on TV4 and in a string of restaurants, both as owner and chef. Together with an enthusiastic management team and staff, he launched a brand new food concept last year.

With its increased focus on local ingredients, enjoyments, and traditional food with a modern twist, FoodFeast became a reality.

The employees even went out to the strawberry fields at Egge farm in Lier and picket berries for use in fresh, and importantly, local smoothies. And the initiative has been an enormous success. That is why it's about time to lift FoodFeast to new heights.

Mountain lambs

This autumn, we have been in Ål in Hallingdal, where thousands of lambs have spent the summer in the open mountain landscape - more than 1000 metres above sea level. This type of animal husbandry excites us, so we have bought 200 lambs. We actually participated in gathering them together on the mountainside at the beginning of September. Now we are banking on our guests appreciating our commitment and the great flavour of the lambs that have grazed at high altitude as a continuation of - and a new episode in - our FoodFeast concept.

Bengt Sjöström is determined that the staff should have a relationship with the food they prepare and serve.

'We are convinced that happy animals make for the best ingredients. And we want to be able to tell our guests where the food comes from,' he says, emphasising that all ingredients are selected with care. Oslo Congress Centre places great demands on its suppliers, and the ingredients are almost all produced in Norway.

It is not particularly easy to produce local food in such large quantities. Cooking à la carte for 1000 people is a science, but still quite possible for a kitchen staff that serves a staggering 150,000 meals a year.

The Arena of Opportunities

Its central location in the capital city, and its halls and meeting rooms featuring ultra modern technology provide Oslo Congress Centre with a flexible basis for everything from small meetings to huge conferences and celebrations. But guests deserve more than to sit comfortably and hear well. They can also enjoy an experience they will not forget for a long time. We like being challenged, whether it is through flexible events or culinary capers. We call ourselves The Arena of Opportunities, and that is a promise.

Try our new conference package!

This year we are launching a brand new conference package which is of course connected to the FoodFeast concept. Each and every delegate will enjoy a warm welcome upon arrival, provided with a bottle of Isklar mineral water, an apple and pens and paper on their desks. At lunchtime, everyone will be greeted by charming serving staff as they arrive in the restaurant. You will be served the delicious Lier apple aperitif before the meal. You will then enjoy a two-course FoodFeast lunch followed by a traditional Swedish "fika" and a smoothie. If delegates are extra lucky, their smoothie may contain strawberries picked personally by the staff!

We look forward to welcoming you!
